modpo

there’s really just one thing that i can post about this morning, and i am remiss for not mentioning it earlier.  i am (happily) enrolled in the Modern Poetry course that Al Filreis is offering via Coursera.  this is an active–via forums, live web casts, and twitter–class full of close, line by line, word by word readings of modern poetry.  this week it’s Dickinson (who i don’t quite get.  all that punctuation?!) and Whitman (who i have loved since i happened upon a water damaged copy of Leaves of Grass on a thrift store bookshelf when i was 14).

poetry is a wonderful way to welcome fall and the sense of new beginnings this season brings. class has started, but only recently.  you have plenty of time to enroll yourself.

maybe poems are your project work?
