Celebrating St Joseph

For the past seven weeks I’ve used my Sabbath Rest posts as a guides pointing toward the Feast of St Joseph.  Each week I paired an image of Joseph with a quote from A Monk’s Alphabet by Jeremy Driscoll–my favorite spiritual reading from last year!  The seven Sundays call to mind Joseph’s seven sorrows.  But what else?  How can you bring in a bit of celebration to your days right at the end of Lent?IMG_0433

The good folks at the Virtual St Joseph’s Altar have created some wonderful pictures from the Italian tradition of creating altars full of symbolic items.  There is a lucky fava bean and blessed bread, fruits, veggies, fish and wine.  There are also coloring sheets and a 3D altar to cut + color!

Of course before we even get to St Joseph we’ll also be celebrating St Patrick using this wonderful Amanda Bennett unit study and these great (free!) printables from Real Life at Home.  I think we’re going to make seed cake ala Swallows and Amazons to sweeten the day.

  1. Wonderful. Thanks for the links to the resources. My middle children seem to be suffering some lenten fatigue so I will be looking those up.
