Lenten Prayers with Children

Let us make a vow to the Lord our God and keep it; let all around him bring gifts to him who is worthy to be feared.

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not stray from your commandments.

Jesus said to his disciples, “Occasions for stumbling are bound to come, but woe to anyone by whom they come!  It would be better for you if a millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea than for you to cause one of these little ones to stumble.  Be on your guard!”

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not stray from your commandments.

You have put gladness in my heart, more than when grain and wine and oil increase.  I lie down in peace; at once I fall asleep; for only you, Lord, make me dwell in safety.

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not stray from your commandments.

Today if you shall hear his voice, harden not your heart.

With my whole heart I seek you; let me not stray from your commandments.

O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: be gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring us again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, forever and ever.  Amen
