100 Days

Last year at just about this same time, I started writing a series called Exploring Soul Rest Through Art.  I wanted a place to share all of the wonderful artists and inspiration I was finding.  I wanted a way to think more deeply about finding rest, about living freely and lightly.  It seemed like art was a way through.

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.  Matthew 11.28-30

100 Days of Soul Rest

On Maundy Thursday I discovered the HolyLens Project at Surviving Our Blessings!  Not exactly perfect timing.  Even so, I copied this quote down and it’s been singing to me during these first weeks of Easter.  Then when Teresa posted about her 100 Days Project, I knew exactly what I would be doing.

This project is about more than just taking photos. It’s a spiritual discipline, designed to help us notice the places in our ordinary lives that God is already at work. It’s inviting Christ’s presence with intention. It’s pausing for a moment of reflection each day in our otherwise busy lives. It is building community with others whose paths cross ours. It is holy work.

The Details

–a photo and quote everyday posted on Instagram.  I had planned to be gathering quotes from my reading, but it’s been slim pickings.  I’m moving forward with faith that I’ll find what I need even though the “unforced rhythms of grace” seem far away.
