Clearing the Decks
Our minds work most creatively when they are solving problems not holding onto loads of information. As a next step, you may want to begin to clear the decks with a brain dump. When our thoughts + worries + prayers + fears begin to swirl, overwhelm can creep in. A brain dump can quiet that mess.
Just grab a piece of paper from your journal or notebook, set a timer for 10 minutes, and start listing the things that are on your mind:
- nagging chores
- difficult scheduling challenges
- overwhelming questions
- questions about a curriculum choice
Let the paper hold the emerging lists, and let your brain start to unravel the places where you are stuck.
Mystie Winckler has loads of information on brain dumps if you’d like a list of prompts to work through. Then as you read the posts in the coming weeks, you’ll already have a list of topics specific to your homeschool top of mind and you can try out ideas.
