The Beginning of Holy Week
Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. (Mattheew 11.28-30)
The homeschooling world is speeding ahead toward Easter. Pinterest is awash in pastels + bunnies! And if we’re going to be ready when the day arrives, we need to plan ahead, we need to prepare. But maybe what we need more is just to linger here a few more days. Maybe your Lenten disciplines have fallen away. Maybe the business of school + home are pressing in.
Here are a few ways to begin even now to remember, to observe this season:
- Take a few minutes each day this week to listen and pray.
- Color your prayers. (I’m drawing multiple mandalas each day to gather up the forgotten days.)
- Declutter a bit. Make space for the new things coming to life.
- Take a walk.
April’s coming soon enough. There’s an amazing bundle sale on books for virtual assistants happening during Easter Week. And I’ll be posting next week with resources for Poetry Month–a whole month of poems! There will even be a giveaway at the end of the month!
But for these next few days keep company with Jesus.
We have put school on hold this week (except math) so we can put our focus elsewhere and settle into this most holy of weeks. Thanks for the h/t re: mandalas!
Glad to think of you all drawing along!
Peace keep you.
