Seven Sundays of St Joseph: Two

There’s a lovely folk custom of remembering the seven Sundays before the Feast of St Joseph on March 19th. So, a piece of art and a bit about fatherhood for you to contemplate.

That’s Joseph on the left in the handsome red coat, with his hat in his hands. I love the way that van der Weyden bends time in this painting–there’s a crucifix on the wall behind Mary.
