What she was finding also was how one book led to another, doors kept opening wherever she turned and the days weren’t long enough for the reading she wanted to do.

Monday was clear.  gloriously.  we spent the morning at the Northwest branch library attending an early literacy lecture.  (it was fabulous; keep your ears open for other presentations at other libraries.  very worthwhile.)  as we crossed the St Johns Bridge, we could see Mountain Hood, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St Helens.  i told her that the flat mountain was a volcano.  it erupted when her papa was a little boy.  she kept asking questions.  that night she and her papa looked up pictures and videos on the internet.  today we went back to the library to find books about volcanoes.  she wanted “big girl volcano books.”

so we are reading and learning and exploring.  and savoring every moment.
