so you want to play the tin whistle?

2 March 2011 by Kortney

here are a few great resources for welcoming music into your life…

we purchased Walton’s Little Black Tin Whistles (in the key of D) from Amazon for $3.99.  this is an excellent price for these true musical instruments made in Ireland.  penny whistles were first produced in the late 1800s to allow everyone to have access to instruments and music making.  and so in that tradition even the youngest among us have their own whistles.  Nico, unfortunately, thinks they make very good hammers as well.

in addition to trying to learn “Raggle Taggle Gypsy” by the Waterboys, we are also beginning our way through the lessons offered at A Jesuit’s Introduction to the Irish Tin Whistle.

we’d love to hear what’s playing at your house!

Could you Email me the tin whistle notes for Raggle Taggle Gypsy or post them?
