prepare the way :: celebrating the feast of St Francis

2 October 2012 by Kortney

these are a few of the books that we are reading together this week as we prepare to celebrate this wonderful saint on Thursday, October 4th.

Francis: The Poor Man of Assisi

Saint Francis

Brother Sun, Sister Moon: The Life and Stories of St. Francis

this last  book is quite a find.  it has wonderful illustrations and the stories are offered in short chapters–perfect for reading aloud over a few days and yet not loosing the thread of the narrative.

we also might try baking a “Tonsure Cake.”  the children are quite interested in the unique way Francis wears his hair!
