preparing for Advent :: one

Lamentations 3.21-23

the word father is meant to have some of the content of faithfulness, gentleness, forgiveness, kindness, compassion, and long-suffering which will make the very word a sound that brings comfort and security. (128)
as a father, as a mother what lovely things do you have in mind to make the mornings and the days full of expectancy? how is your faithfulness being demonstrated? have you ever spent time and imagination thinking up ways to show this? a child is meant to have some understanding of this description of God the Father because of what the child has experienced in an earthly relationship. …and a peek at reflections from last year…
These are good, steadying thoughts! What is a Family?, is one of my favorite books. I also love For the Children’s Sake, written by her daughter Susan Schaeffer Macaulay–I used to read it at the end of every August to encourage me on a positive path for home learning.
